The 37th AESOP Annual Congress 2025 in Istanbul is an international academic forum on spatial planning that brings together researchers, educators, practitioners and early-career scholars from across the world. The congress focuses on the theme of planning as a transformative action in an age of planetary crisis, addressing interconnected environmental, social, economic and political challenges including climate change, social inequalities, resource depletion and urban sustainability. Participants present and discuss research in scientific tracks, special sessions and roundtables that explore the critical role of spatial planning in achieving climate justice, degrowth-oriented strategies and more resilient territories.[2][8][14] The event is organised under the auspices of AESOP and hosted by the Department of City and Regional Planning at Yıldız Technical University.
